We shred dense underbrush, privet and suitable young trees along overgrown lots, trails and fence lines. Our compact track loader carries a drum mulching head and works around marked trees. Processed wood stays on-site as mulch, while buried roots remain.
Best for overgrown lots, trails and selective clearing where an on-site mulch layer fits your plans.
Shred underbrush, woody shrubs and small trees; stems up to 7 inches assessed individually.
Controlled passes around the trees you want to keep.
Mulch processed on-site; root removal and hauling are separate.
The customer wanted to open up 2 acres of wooded area. We mulched dense underbrush and smaller trees while keeping the marked trees. The cut material stayed on the ground as mulch, leaving the area easier to walk and maintain.

Our Forestry Mulching Process and Equipment
Our process uses an efficient mulching head mounted on a compact track loader to shred wood, underbrush and small to medium-sized trees, typically 5-7 inches in diameter. We work in controlled passes around marked trees, then reprocess thicker material into ground cover. Tree species, density and site conditions determine how we approach each stem.
Chattanooga Underbrush and Invasive Growth
Chinese privet and bush honeysuckle can form dense understory, while kudzu and wintercreeper can cover the ground and climb trees. Suitable woody stems up to 7 inches need an actual-equipment and site check. Living roots may send up new growth, so opening the site is different from permanent invasive control.
Land Clearing Questions, Clear Answers.
Do I need a permit for land clearing in Chattanooga?+
It depends on the address and scope. A Chattanooga Land Disturbing Permit may apply at 1,000 square feet or more of disturbance, or near streams and wetlands. Hamilton County and nearby towns use their own processes. Tennessee construction stormwater coverage generally applies at one acre or more, including smaller pieces of a larger common plan. Routine cutting and development clearing need different checks.
Will forestry mulching remove the roots and stumps?+
A suitable mulching head can reduce exposed stumps, but mulching is not the same as extracting roots. If the area will become a driveway, barn or house pad, confirm the separate root-removal and ground-preparation requirements.
Will mowing or mulching stop privet and kudzu from returning?+
One pass does not guarantee permanent control. Cutting and shredding can leave living roots or crowns that produce new growth. We discuss repeat maintenance or a separate vegetation-management plan. Dense vines can also hide holes, debris and old fencing.
